Nick Marshall

Assistant Professor Nick is a titled sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapist who, as well as being one of the co-founding principle partners of ‘Surf life Physio’ , continues to have an education and teaching role at both Bond and Griffith University, lecturing and teaching in a range of different topics and areas. Nick was the Medical Manager for the 2018 Commonwealth Games as well as now being the director of Medical services for the Australian Lifesaving Team. Nick is currently one of the physiotherapists with Swimming Australia, as well as with the Australian junior rowing team and in the 2021 Australian Olympic boxing team. He has been the Physiotherapist for the Samoan Rugby League Team as well as the junior Gold Coast Sunsets and Gold Coast Suns Under 16s State Championship sides. Nick continues to travel with the Queensland State Surf Lifesaving Team, Australian Surf Lifesaving Team and the National Surf Life Saving High Performance Squad. More recently he has been employed by the NRL to be game day Physiotherapist for the NRL referees which sees him on the field at all Broncos and Titans home games as well as Test matches and state of Origin and he also works for the QRL referees.

Josh Carter

Doctor of Physiotherapy with a special interest in sports and musculoskeletal injuries. He has spent a number of years working for a range of Brisbane and Gold Coast sporting codes such as rugby league and union, AFL, Track & Field, soccer and cricket. Consequently he has a thorough understanding of the injuries that occur in sport and the treatment required.

He takes pride in exercise prescription to rehabilitate individuals from all sectors of life whether that is sport, work, leisure or day to day life.

Josh is heavily involved in the world of stand up paddle boarding (SUP) as both a competitor and physiotherapist. He is the first Australian Stand Up Paddle Boarding Team Physiotherapist and has provided physiotherapy for the Queensland State Titles, Australian Titles, local SUPSA club events and has treated some of the best stand up paddler's in the world. In his spare time, Josh can be found stand up paddle boarding, surfing, playing guitar and cracking some awesome dad jokes.

Elissa Van Bodegraven

After seeing first hand how beneficial Clinical Pilates is to injury management and prevention Elissa decided to specialise in the practice. She has 14 years of clinical experience with injuries & postural complaints, has treated a range of clients from retirees to the office worker and all levels of athletes & has a special interest in back pain management & post surgery rehabilitation. She has seen at all stages of life how beneficial Clinical Pilates can be for improving your physical & emotional well being. A keen runner & lover of travel, wine & her dog, Elissa looks forward to meeting you at the reformer!

Christian Guerrero

Meet Christian, an impassioned physiotherapist committed to enhancing individuals' physical well-being. His professional journey commenced in Chile, where he provided essential physiotherapy services to the national Chilean hockey team and managed the Sports Clinic at the prestigious Catholic University of Chile. During this time, he worked closely with athletes at all levels, from amateurs to professionals, honing his skills and deepening his understanding of sports-related injuries.


Christian firmly believes in the pivotal role of movement in injury prevention and recovery. With a background in strength and conditioning and certifications as a Mulligan Manual Therapist and an EXOS Rehabilitation Performance Therapist, he bridges the gap between rehabilitation and peak performance, ensuring clients not only recover but thrive in their activities.

 
Beyond his professional life when he's not in the clinic or leading invigorating reformer Pilates classes, you can find him riding waves or mastering tricks at the skatepark. His zest for life and diverse interests underscore his commitment to a well-rounded, active lifestyle, perfectly complementing his role as a physiotherapist.

 

Emily has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Griffith University in 2023. She has a special interest in treating sports and musculoskeletal injuries being an athlete herself. Emily has been a competitor in Surf Life Saving for over 10 years and has had numerous injuries across her time as an athlete. She has first-hand experience of being a patient, following physiotherapy plans and working hard to resume function and strength, shaping her practice with compassion and understanding.

 Emily has done extra training in sports strapping with the Gold Coast Suns, was the sports trainer for the Griffith University Gorillas Rugby team and has recently been working as the Queensland Surf Life Saving Team Physiotherapist in both the Interstate Challenge and the Super Surf League events in Sydney.

 Emily has a passion for the ocean, and in her spare time you will find her training, reading a book, or playing with her puppy Franklin. 

 Emily’s services include personalised assessment and sport-specific screening, clinical exercise programming and manual therapy including cupping and dry needling.

Lucy Douglas

Lucy has undertaken 5 years of studying, completing a double degree in Exercise Science and a Doctor of Physiotherapy from Bond University. 

She has worked alongside the QAFL, NRL officiating squad and school boys Rugby Union in sports training and physiotherapy management.

Being very injury prone within her own sporting career, she has a special interest in Sports Physiotherapy, and has a huge passion towards musculoskeletal injury prevention/management and treatment at all levels and sports. Lucy is also passionate about the exercise components of rehabilitation, as well as providing hands on manual therapy.

Lucy has a passion and love for the ocean; in her spare time you will find her swimming, surfing, paddling, and most likely getting dumped!

Shane Weigman

Hello everyone my name is Shane Weigman

I am a recent graduate from Bond University, with a doctor of physiotherapy degree, With a Bachelors degree in Athletic training from the United States ofAmerica.

Since graduating I have worked with and am still working with multiple sports teams in the QAFL and Queensland Premiere Rugby Union team, providing practice and game day physiotherapy management.

As a sports driven individual when I was younger and progressing to play highly competitive lacrosse through Uni, I have a special interest in sports physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Since moving to Australia in January of 2022, I have found a passion for the ocean, Surfing, snorkeling with the sea life and soaking in the sun while walking up and down the beaches.
